Not sure if this is a bug or not, but I hope it is. Since the knapping change went in, I haven't been able to get my knapped broadheads above average, and this was mentioned to me by another player as well. Before the change, I was consistently getting exquisite, with a few masterful if I was lucky and rarely below well crafted.

Since it's impossible, that I know of, to forge broadheads, I was hoping we could still knap really high quality ones for our arrows. Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks much.

Knapped weapons are no longer possible to be above average quality. Stone items are not, and never were, intended to be potentially as powerful as metal ones. Short-term benefits such as the extreme sharpness of obsidian will be added at some point in the future, but generally, stone weaponry is intentionally inferior to metal, in that it can't receive the bonuses of above-average qualities.

I did read that. However, broadheads are a bit of a different situation. They aren't weapons in and of themselves, but part of fletching, and we have no metal alternative. My understanding is that at least right now, the quality of the broadheads don't actually affect the arrow quality, but I'm assuming that would change in the future if it hasn't already.

This is why I brought it up as a possible bug. I can understand a knapped knife not being as good as a metal forged one, sure. But limiting broadheads potentially puts archers at a disadvantage, unless metal arrow tips are planned. If that's the case, even better. Of course then there's the other question of what's the point of getting knapping above 150 or so if nothing knappable will ever be high quality, but that's a different subject really.

AFAIK metal tips are in the works, we're just working with two hands and a rather large to-do list.

Bows already do ridiculous damage. I'm sure you're not takin that much of a hit.

On the bright side, forging of metal arrowheads was just implemented. Yay!
