perception training

I was trying to find place to hide to train hiding and I keep getting noticed. Actually, I keep noticing that the NPCs in the same room are noticing me trying to hide. Shouldn't I get perception points for noticing that they noticed me? The big shocker is when I tried this on rogue Molly. I'm assuming that she's a trainer with considerable skill. And if I (with 0.03 in perception) can detect her noticing me, then her convert skills must be sub-par. Seriously, if i was a skilled thief, I should be aware of my environment without standing out.

Noticing someone notice you is automatic, it doesn't require a skill roll. I wouldn't be against changing that, but it wouldn't be a method of skill gain either way.

Also, a good way to train perception is to go out around creatures that hide a lot and spot them. Watching people watch you won't get you any gains.

Are there any good creatures to train perception against that won't maul you to death when starting out? (Other than the young sniper.)

Some icky squirrels and ... infested cats, I think? ... have been added to the graveyard and Tarueka, respectively.

those squirrels have a screaming, squealing and chittering problem. On that note, why can't players squeal? :(

They also bite and are mean, and they don't like strawberries!

Now that we're speaking about the graveyard, why can't you skin rats but you can skin squirrels and get rat pelts?

Graveyard critters won't be skinnable, since they're at least partially rotting. You're not going to get workable pelts from them. Rat pelts from squirrels would be a bug.
