A note on Farn's Beer

I've overheard some comments about Farn's Beer, and people avoiding it to keep themselves sober. If you read the shop description when you order it, you'll note it's described as "a soft drink." It's essentially non-alcoholic root beer. You're not going to get drunk on it.

Guess it was the purely psychological effect of drinking that got those people so hammered. Or they just wanted the attention without the hangover. Yeah, that's my bet.

I tried to tell people that.. that's why I drank Gardic Beer when I was getting wasted!

Would it be possible to SIP on the ale to socially drink it without becoming drunk, preventing from being seen as a being rude guest?

If you don't want to be a rude drunken guest, don't drink something that's going to get you drunk.

Though it is also rude to -stop- drinking. See Ancient Greece as an extreme example of what lengths people would go to not be rude and stop eating/drinking.

As far as I'm aware (and I'm pretty aware of these types of matters), no culture in Arad will consider you rude for refraining from getting yourself drunk in a situation where being drunk wouldn't be appropriate, even if that requires stopping drinking completely.

Mechanically, a "sip" would imply drinking less than a "drink" and would result in weird decimal situations. I just don't see it as worth the effort to code and alter existing systems over.

Anyone (other than yourself) who has a problem with you not drinking is an ass. Straight up.
