An early snowstorm has blown into the area, causing a deep chill to strike Shadgard and the surrounding areas. The tailor Elric recommends wearing as much warm clothing as possible to help stave off the cold.

Rumor has it that Acting Mayor Gunther appears particularly bothered by the cold, being in an especially foul mood and never straying far from one of the town's many wood-burning stoves, fireplaces, or braziers.

In honor of GM Rithiel, who is currently enduring some early October snow, we've decided to have a little snowstorm hit Shadgard and the nearby areas!

And of course when we say "in honor of," we really mean to just rub it in. Enjoy that, Rithiel! At least now the citizens of Shadgard are suffering along with you.

So what happen when a thaumaturge channels?Wouldn't it, technically protect them from the snow somewhat?Aren't the sorcerers immune to it seeing as they USE cold magic?And wouldn't some random elemancer figure out how to channel pyromancy in such a way as to keep themselves warm?Just saying.

Thaumaturgic energy, while providing some warmth when cast and being able to be focused by templar into a searing beam or disc (and being particularly exhausting over other spells to use in this manner), is not intended to perform as a passive or active-channeled resistance to cold. The energy and focus required to constantly generate significant heat via thaumaturgic energy would be simply too inefficient, in comparison to, say, pyromancy. A warming effect would make a nice side-effect for some of the spells, though.

Sorcerers are not immune to cold simply by virtue of being able to wield cryomancy, just as pyromancers are not passively immune to fire. Sorcerers will have an ability that grants them enough cold resistance to negate the effects of cold weather, however.

A pyromancy ability to actively (at least via an initial cast with a set duration) resist cold has been on the to-do list for a while, and since it's come up now, it's probably a good time to implement it.
