News: Gate completed!

Acting Mayor Gunther was pleased to announce the completion of the new town gate in Redrock Canyon.

"Many brave citizens and mercenaries gave their lives to complete construction on our new town gate," the Acting Mayor said. "May their souls find eternal rest and honor for the sacrifice they made to protect our town and its people."

Gunther continued, "We would also like to recognize the aid of the Clockwork Opificer Guild, who provided most excellent plans and engineers to make our gate work at the pull of a lever. We also extend our great thanks to the elemancer Nootau, who himself performed some geo-reinforcing of our gate, and eventually caused the University to make the gate one of its Advanced Geomancy field tests for its students, resulting in a most resilient fortification to the already-formidable gate."

Gunther then went on to explain how the gate would be operated. "As mentioned before, COG provided plans for and helped install mechanisms that would allow the gate to be opened with the pull of a simple lever. This is easy enough to do from the inside. If a friend or ally finds themselves outside the gate, they may shout to the scouts up on the canyon rim who will, upon identifying the person as a non-threat, send someone to pull the lever for them. As a security feature (again, provided by the fine engineers of COG), the gate will automatically close itself a few moments after opening, so please move quickly through the gate once it opens."

COG returned to make a brief but very useful addition to the gate. A long brass periscope has been attached to the gate, allowing for people to look through it and see what's on the other side, so as not to accidentally open the gate and allow access to invaders.
