Armors made of steel, iron, or celestium (also known as celestial iron, meteoric iron, sky iron, etc.) will now provide additional weak, moderate, or strong resistance against nether damage, respectively.

Excellent. My only regret is that I just yesterday splurged on a set of steel armor, when I would have waited for iron. Ah, well. It may be useful to have a set of each, if the greater strength of steel over iron comes into play in other situations.

Are there negative effects for wearing said armor if you are a sorcerer?

They don't currently, but they will eventually be particularly hindering to sorcery when we get around to coding it in.

Will there be other metals than typical copper or bronze for the more armor inclined Sorcerers when it hinders using some of the abilities?

Possibly (possibly not). Still deciding on our metal list.

Does this effect sunsteel as well? I assume it does?

Sunsteel didn't exist when this post was created. But yes, it should provide some protection as well.
