Dagger class weapons

Post by sona »

I just noticed while running some tests with dagger class weapons (daggers, main-gauche, dussack, stiletto), that at the very least, while using a buckler as off hand, I'd get daggers showing as doing crushing damage. Not sure if this is a bug or intended, but thought I'd throw it out there. Might also benefit from more info, if others get the same with, or without buckler/shields or if other offhands might even skew the damage types in odd ways.

It could be from a shield bash.

I've had rounds where the buckler did successfully shield bash, and the remaining weapon strikes from dagger class weapons would be crushing damage, and also rounds where the shield bash would be dodged, and the remaining weapon strikes in the round would still do crush damage.

Maybe you're holding it from the wrong end. :D

Really though, I'm sure it's just a simple coding error.

Have you tried turning the dagger off and back on?

Oh God, I turned it off and on and Spearhead's contraption just started up! What do I do? It's whirring and whizzing. Guys? (Yeah, I figure it's a simple coding error. Bludgeon would make sense if it was a pommel strike (other weapons, such as spear to bludgeon damage for haft strikes. But I'm also not sure if there is a difference between bludgeon and crush damage, etc)

I wasn't able to reproduce this with ten rounds of combat. Can you provide a bit more detail about what exactly you're holding in your hands? Also, what kind of options do you have set that affect combat text output? It could just be that you're seeing the shield bash as a dagger attack...

Code: Select all

I believe I bugged this some time back when twc was first changed. It seems that whenever you wield a larger weapon in your off hand and wield a smaller weapon in your main hand, it switches their damages around. Try holding a dagger in your right hand, like a stiletto, and wield a cutlace in your left, I'm fairly certain it is the same bug. I just only remembered now.

I was holding the dagger weapons in my right hand, a steel buckler in my left hand, I know I wasn't misreading the line, because I triple and quadruple checked, also, in some rounds of combat, i'd have multiple strikes with crush damage in a single round - which is impossible, because you only get 1 shield bash strike. Hayl is likely on to something in that it matters which hand the buckler/off hand is held in, and if the same happens with other larger weapons as an off-hand, it may well be worth investigating that for the same reason.
