Flourish

Basically, just something shiny and showy for RP purposes.

Using the 'flourish' command looks for whatever whatever weapon/weapons you have in your hand, and performs a check based on the appropriate skills. The higher your skill, the better a chance you have for doing some really nifty trick based on what the weapon is, such as twirling a staff around expertly, or tossing a rapier in the air and catching it by the hilt.

DONE.

Not all weapon types are there, but most will be eventually, and there are enough for use. If that weapon type isn't done yet, you'll get a generic, "You flourish your weapon."

Swords, blunts, bows, staves, whips, polearms, firearms, daggers, and (two) bare hands now work. Everything else is still the generic messaging.

Wands?

I don't think a wand is classified as a weapon.

They, as far as I know, are of a singularly offensive nature and purpose. Thus they are weapons because they cannot be anything else.

The wand itself isn't a weapon though. It doesn't utilise a weapon skill.

It is weapon. It merely doesn't use a weapon skill. That does not mean it is not a weapon. Although admittedly mechanics-wise that is probably what it means. However RP-wise there is now reason one could not flourish a wand to impressive pyrotechnic effect for example. After all this is merely a way for combatants to show of their toys.

If you want to do a pyromantic display, that would probably be best discussed under one of the magic sections instead of here. You're not asking for a weapon based flourish, but rather a Magic based flourish. Regardless of whether or not a wand is RPly considered a weapon, mechanically it isn't.

Flourish has been updated. If you do not have enough weapon skill you won't "flourish" at all. But now if you have enough skill you can choose which flourish you get, rather than having a chance to get one of three.

So give it a try, Flourish basic, flourish moderate and flourish hard.

Thank Rithiel for her hard work.

Executioners sword doesn't have a flourish :( (I think)

flourish
You flourish your awesomite executioners-sword.
It works but there is no custom flourish for it. Plus the sword is VERY heavy so, if it did, it may have something such as this, "You raise your ginormous sword above your head and wiggle it slightly, with a sad flourish, before collapsing from the weight." hehe

Even that would be cool...I really like this Idea. Too bad I picked up the executioners sword as soon as I learned about flourish

Could there be magical flourishes? I can always emote them but it doesn't feel as impactful as an actual flourish.

Although I agree with Jaster here, I think what Kunren might be refering to is a fancy magic hand gesture that makes cute and useless things happen, or fancy messaging.

I could be wrong here so feel free to correct me, Kunren.

I did most of the flourish messaging back when this was released, with the introduction of new weapons and some other stuff I can reevaluate some of the messaging and get to work on some updates. With Rias' permission I can try to do some fancy stuff for you spellcasters as well. How does that sound?
