Specific Area Hunting Availability

Post by Kiyaani »

I wanted to start this to see if people are finding areas that give the message "There's nothing to hunt here" and seem like they should actually have creatures in them. Sometimes these things are overlooked when building or put on hold and then potentially forgotten so I thought having a list might help get the world a bit more populated.

For now I've noticed that Pelynath has no hunting, but it's hills and forested hills which seems like it would be good for all kinds of critters.

If you notice an area that gives the no hunting message but seems otherwise complete, please post with the area name and why you think it should have critters and possibly even suggest critters based on the terrain and climate. It might help the process :)

Yes, please build up a list! Places that should have prey but don't make us sad.

This might be more of a bug but there's one specific room in Brackenridge Forest that gives the message. It's the non-forested hill room just south of the eastern pass entrance. It may be more because of the terrain just being hill and dirt though. It still seems odd.

Also, the Brackenridge Pass itself has nothing to hunt and I'm not sure if that's intended or not. It's mountainous, but also forested. There could probably be at least small critters running around.

Well, there's the jungle to the northwest, I've tried hunting there multiple times and always get "There's nothing to hunt here." Then all along the western edge of the map. These areas also have no herbs to forage, which I can understand for the jungle, I'd be happy waiting for the new herbalism abilities to come into play first, but the other areas should have herbs of some kind.

Corvus Wilds: There's nothing to hunt here. This may be intentional since it's all creepy and haunted, but then again... maybe not considering the local cuisine.

Brackenridge Forest has nothing to hunt, as does the Dry Prairie. I get that it's a desert, but I figure if sheep can live there there's probably some wildlife around. Thanks!

Some suggestions for what to populate with.

Forest: Porcupine, hare, raccoon, squirrel, fox, occasional wolf, bear, cougar
Dry Prairie: horned lizard, desert iguana, fennec, jackrabbit, coyote, roadrunner (meep meep!)

Other suggestions for prairie areas are antelope, snakes, prairie dogs (which already exist elsewhere), elk, ferrets, mountain lions, and mice.

Still nothing to hunt in the Talhuecan Jungle!

Like the new Dry Prairie additions though!

The newly expanded southern regions don't seem to have any huntable wilderness critters.
