Re: Sharing a room! (Posthumous)

I'd gathered it was something along those lines, but it'd be very nice to have it be a bit simpler, particularly for new players.

Re: Sharing a room! (Posthumous)

I think for the 'departing while being rescued' it'd be nice to have the flash that people give be notably different when they're in the same room as your corpse. Right now it's a game of 'ring bell' 'flash flash flash' for 'I have your body'. It's usually not too hard to guess if someone has you, b...

First letter!

So this is just a small suggestion that when you check your mail for the first time, you're given the option of where you want it set. Currently it automatically sets your post office to the town you have highest standing with, which I'm guessing defaults to Shadgar, since that is where mine got set...

Re: Number of sides on a wooden chest?

Currently, a player needs 5 short planks and two hinges to manufacture a chest. I know it's a nerf, but shouldn't 6 short planks be required? Most chests aren't square, they're rectangular, so four are being used for the top, bottom, and two long sides, while the fifth is cut in half for the two sh...

Re: Regarding Security

Clearly the answer here is that you should bring an army to sneak in and do a surprise attack so that you can find out what the special defense are.

Re: General Ability Ideas

I like shieldwall. Perhaps when any of the people in the shieldwall get attacked, all of them get a block roll to try and stop it, or perhaps contribute some % of their block skill to the actual defenders. I would think scavenger would have to be a rather massive boost to be worht an ability, and th...

Re: General Ability Ideas

Right, but it could be possible that those abilities are needed to make them worth using at all. I'm just pointing out that it will change the balance. I don't know if that is possibly a good thing or a bad thing, but it is a thing. Personally I like the abilities and would like to see them all, or ...

Re: General Ability Ideas

I have to express some concern about Impetus for balance reasons because it implicitly makes ranged weapons less effective in the course of a fight because it is harder to get back into range once in melee. That isn't to say it is entirely a bad thing, I don't know how ranged vs melee weapons stack ...

Re: Sharing a room! (Posthumous)

I don't know, I do like Kunren's suggestion that there be some risk to being 'exposed' in death, and forcing you to actually take effort to hide yourself. Perhaps secretive people could have something done that would let them enter death with their souls hidden, but it wouldn't be the default state.

Re: Sharing a room! (Posthumous)

It's only meta if death is OOC, and if all this is added in, then it would be because death isn't OOC. So if it happens it wouldn't be a problem, and if it doesn't, then it isn't a problem :P

Maybe have a handful of rooms to move around in and/or allow souls to hide themselves so that can't be seen.

Re: Sharing a room! (Posthumous)

Well, I assume the void is somewhere else entirely so we wouldn't be able to see the state of our own or other people's bodies, but it'd be reassuring to know if my rescuer failed to rescue me, or to let the person I was rescuing know I failed, somehow. Not to mention the void won't be so lonely, t...

Re: Sharing a room! (Posthumous)

Undying could have death balls, held in the afterlife. It'd be.... well, creepy really, but it would certainly strike at that difference between Undying and everyone else.

Edit: I think the monks might refuse to raise people that attend one though.

Re: Personal workshops

That's why I suggested the possible need of monthly maintenance, or some other form of it. Perhaps you have to get logs or coal or something to stoke the forge. Maybe you need to get a new stone for the lapidary wheel every so often. I'm sure other things could be thought of. It would allow for a dr...

Re: Iffy durability issues

I'd like to toss out that Taric bought a handaxe from the weapons shop in Haiban the other day, and he got it already scuffed. He did a bug report, but it might be somehow related, so figured I'd mention it here.

Personal workshops

I think the ability to set up personal workshops in our homes would be quite entertaining. I don't think being able to have everything for every craft would be viable, but a worktable and a rack for leatherworking (along with a barrel to store a ton of tanning solution maybe) would be viable. Or a l...

Perhaps simply have one 'empty shop' or something in several rooms, or a bunch in one area so that they're there, even if they aren't properly coded in to be used yet.

Hmmm, I thought the blade was a bit fatter, but that's all I could think of. Oh well, maybe this is exactly the right thing to do though, see if a GM wouldn't put it in for you. Could likely just be a 'reskinned' shortsword.

Yeah, I suppose it's just the name I like. Heh. I'm not a master of game mechanics, so not sure how it would be different. Woman lose all combat abilities if grabbed on the upper arm, while men lose all combat abilities in the presence of a scantily clad female. Also men must be using 'dirty tactics' to hit a woman, because that just isn't done :P Seriously though, I like the idea of background skills very much. Perhaps...
