Re: A handful of flavour np characters, please
Killing random folk just cuz is sloppy boring untalented evil rp. I probably shouldn't call it rp. Like Rias has said before, it's closer to trolling than actual engagement in the world. I expect better from those who want to rp evil. Yeah, I recognize it's definitely one of the harder and more than...

Re: What you should know about Tse Gaiyan and Druidry
Thanks for the clarification, Jirato.
There is (as far as I understand) a guild designed for those who want to be more druidic and less militaristic.

Re: Opt-In Permadeath
Agreeing with a few in this thread. It's a nice idea, but I fail to see why people can't just die ingame and decide never to log in again. Then, if the legacy system comes in, they can legacy (I verbed it) that dead char. Can't and won't speak for GMs, so I'll just say that personally I'd rather cod...

Re: Who's the star of your guild?
Here's what I'll say. Fayne's removal from the guild was a direct response to others' perceptions of her actions. Sometimes we act in one way and it's perceived differently -- that's communication. Actions have consequences, and "that's not what I meant" rarely removes consequences. I'd lo...

Re: Who's the star of your guild?
I think this is hugely important to understand. A lot of other RP-based muds are very different from clok. Because, in those muds, the gms usually know exactly what they want players to do and, if players begin to deviate, the gms get upset. In most muds the idea is "get permission, then do.&qu...

Re: Who's the star of your guild?
I need to apologize to you guys. I did not even think about that perspective personally, it just seemed to me like it would have been an awesome first step forward to what I would consider an amazing thing (guilds led by PCs) and hearing that the PCs just noped irritated me slightly, itd be like he...

Re: Who's the star of your guild?
I've often said on the GM channels that I wanted to just off guild NPCs in some way or other and make players run them. The problem then being, of course, that players might expect to have command over substantial resources both human and non, which non-GMs can't really do. I will say that Jirato t...

I like the idea of player-created rumors. Or at least heavier use of rumors in taverns and the like.

Re: Events will happen - with or without players
I think there is already this to a degree, Vidor. Some people are remarkably close-lipped about even a stone turning over in the middle of the forest, while others definitely like to gather information and are willing to spread it around. If more stuff happens, I imagine those who like to chat/goss...

Re: Events will happen - with or without players
I love this idea. My first thought is "how will we know what's going on," but I see that as a design component rather than a flaw. Perhaps we could encourage/create a way for pcs (and npcs) to write news which would then be spread, rather through newspaper, notes on message boards, or town...

I'd love to see a traveling brewer who can sell imported beers, spirits, and wines. Impress your friends with a barrel of extraordinarily fine imported wine.

Re: Requirement to blacksmith repair is now too much
I really fail to see the problem. Sure it would be great to repair all our own items, but lets face it. I could go get a sword from Ardor for maybe 2000 riln (don't have his prices in front of me). Then, if I can repair that, then I'm looking at 2,000 riln for my combat needs for the rest of foreve...

1 - Jirato, Zoiya, and the rest are doing a fantastic job. It's hard to code a game and manage the community, all on top of RL obligations, responsibilities, and engagements. 2 - Those who legitimately feel the GMs are being unfair, I welcome you to make use of the institutional method for reporting...

Re: Have roleplay-related questions about characters? Ask he
In this thread we have multiple players, all playing for a long time (I'm almost at eight months) who love how things are run, and one guy who wrote an essay yelling at gms, other players, and more, who has been here for three months. This isn't a personal attack, Konrad, but it's what I said in the...

Re: Taking a break for reals
I'm going to say a few things. 1 - J, Z, Vinz, and rest: you are, without a doubt, the best team of GMs I have seen, and I've been mudding for years. I really hadn't found a "home base MUD" since I was fifteen or so, and there's a reason I've logged in every day. The worldbuilding, gm-char...

So much respect for you, Vaylon. :) Seriously -- this is a great idea, and exactly what I think we need. So I'm more than happy to answer any questions about Vidor that I can with two exceptions: I will not divulge information about the Tse Gaiyan or other TG players, and I will not share anything t...

Re: Thoughts on melee from a game design POV
If someone chooses the gender of their character simply to have one "leg up" on other gender(s), then that says a lot about the quality of that player. I don't see the issue. My point is it shouldn't have been a problem from the beginning. Because there ARE people who are out there which ...

Re: Generalized Abilities Concerns
I'm very conflicted on the idea of keeping abilities after leaving a guild. I mean, sure -- I get that if someone is a Gaiyan and wants to leave and remain a druid, that is part of their character so it makes sense. But I'm also super uncomfortable with, for example, an elemancer leaving fully train...

Re: Mechanics for IC Self-Harm
I don't see what's stopping you from emoting such -- saves all the other components and problems. My biggest issue is like what was said above: self-harm and the like is a super real issue. Outside of emoting things, I really don't see how coding it in can better the game as a whole. In fact, especi...
