Re: Talking in emotes, without abuse

I also prefer the simplicity of the hard-coded speeches a lot of the time. It's quick and easy and definitely helps streamline conversation, especially when there are 4 or more people all in the same room talking. That said, there are also times where more elaborate stuff would be welcome - for inst...

Re: Talking in emotes, without abuse

The programming language shouldn't matter much - string manipulation is string manipulation, regardless of language. The reason I'm suggesting brackets is because it'd be easier to make code that detects when a mistake has been made in the number or placement of brackets, rather than trying to do th...

Re: Talking in emotes, without abuse

Alila's player pointed something to me: another big issue with speech in emotes is language. To get around language issues, here's a revision to the idea - rather than allowing quotes directly, I suggest allowing brackets, and having them like so: emote rises from his seat, and starts pacing, mutter...

Talking in emotes, without abuse

Suggestion: The existing emote command could be modified to allow quotation-marks, and thus speech, WHEN AND ONLY WHEN the say command would also be usable. This would allow for more fluid RP, without allowing people to talk when they're not supposed to be able to. Implementing this change would (I ...

Re: Some RP Shout-Outs!

Aww! Thank you, Zahrah! It's great to know that you're enjoying yourself - I've definitely enjoyed the RP as well! Grinding is fun and all, but having those human interactions, small or large, makes the patience worth it - and your roleplaying has been some of the most engaging thus far. You're alwa...

Is it too self-indulgent of me to write one for Quintin? "Heavy hammer, light heart."

Jahawn Grasslands and Hills, and the Caldwell Hinterlands

A white thick vellum scroll has been posted onto Haiban's, Mistral Lake's, and Shadgard's post boards. It reads: NOTE: Jahawn Grasslands and Hills, and the Caldwell Hinterlands Since this place has gotten so much attention ever since the adventuring community and Shadgard opened up a pass to it, I f...

Re: Event Hosting

I will try to be there, sounds fun! Evening (in game time) would be better than morning, but I'll try to be there whenever as long I'm given some warning about what time of day it's happening. I'm not too picky about the specific window of time.

Re: Improving The Economic Viability Of Forging Metal Arrowheads

Honestly, you’re going to have a Lot of situations like this. Actually making and selling things to players is never going to be quite as lucrative as just mining or making nails is. Really, the only reason to craft for people at all is to be part of the game and RP. In my experience, that doesn't ...

Improving The Economic Viability Of Forging Metal Arrowheads

Right now, forging metal arrowheads and selling them to players is prohibitively expensive. A batch of 5 steel nails sells for 170 riln if there is no market saturation. Even a novice smith can get very close to this figure, even if they're making crappy nails instead of superior-grade ones. So a ba...

Re: Hafted holders?

Quintin is going to want to create as much of his own gear as he can, at least later on in his career. He'll be specializing in the use of hafted weaponry, so aside from getting good at making the weapons themselves, it would also be lovely to be able to make a haft-frog. It seems like an odd omissi...

Re: Mining and Lapidary to skill cap?

Mining skill makes mining itself safer (high skill = less chance of gas/rubble/whatever) and makes you better at finding ore (I believe). It also gives a boost to hafted weaponry usage, since swinging a pickaxe for days on end makes you better at swinging other things. The higher a craft-skill is, t...

I second this. I have an uncompletable music lesson I'd like to get rid of... Not to mention that it'd be satisfying to see things like 500.0 and 2500.0 instead of 500.2476 and 2500.3731.

Re: Craft-able Staff Bands.

A few things to put this in line with the rest of the crafting system: Most metals weigh the same as each other. This means two different bands usually won't have significantly different weight. Also, most of the time, an item only has 2 parts. A haft and a head, a hilt and a blade, etc. Extending t...

In favor of the craftmark

What place does the craftmark have? Speaking from experience while playing Quintin, the craftmark can be an important part of a crafter's work. Seeing a masterfully-made item with your craftmark on it is a feeling like no other, but even lesser-quality items can engender a sense of pride if it's exc...
