New Gemstones Released

http://wiki.contrarium.net/index.php/Gemstones I've released a handful of new gemstones into the mining system. Huzzah. The link above shows a basic list of what currently exists out there in the world. Remember different mines hold different minerals in general, while player mines offer the widest...

New Smelting Formulas

Incase you missed the annoucement thread, this is just a reminder that several new formulas are for sale in the Trader Import shop.

These should not be announced in any OOC fashion, please. And Policy 4 should be followed in regard to gaining access to these.

http://wiki.contrarium.net/index.php/Ore_Types I've added a bit of additional information here about the cultural metals. I apologize it took me so long. Also, I've released the formulas for several new options with smelting which are available to Traders in the Coalition Imports shop. This should ...

Update! Now any hand-to-hand ability works against mounted targets instead of telling you that you cannot, however you will only hit the target's leg or foot.

Not the most effective way to kill someone, but much more logical in the overall scheme of things.

A large update was made to mining today. All materials available for mining in an area now have a set quantity; this is based on material rarity and a bit of randomness. When a mineral type runs out, it will be replaced randomly based on the rarity and area you are mining in. (Shadgard's mine will o...

I don't see this working very well. Even if race and a few descriptive qualities were included, it would still be quite confusing. A man says, "Hey, he stole from me!" A man points at a man. A man says, "No wai, it was him!" A man points at a man. A man blinks. A man swears. A ma...

Desolation

A new area has been opened up in the far reaches of Stone Canyon, and has been marked on the maps of the area. This area is meant to be VERY challenging and deadly and should challenge even our most experienced players. There are three sections. The Desert of Desolation, The Obsidian Crags, and Bloo...

I made slight changes to this as of yesterday when I fixed grapple to work from hiding too. I guess that depends on what you mean by 'fixed'.

I understand both sides of the debate, and abuse of this mechanic is something which we would certainly keep an eye on, and possibly a flag as well. However, we have wanted to have people be able to be dragged while unconscious for a while now. Not only will this allow you to save your friends in a ...

An update on this.

A successful ambush now automatically counts as as if you had an automatic extra teir of position for hand-to-hand combat skills.

This applies to Jab, Punch/Claw, Kick and Grapple.

We'll see if this helps out our more stealthy brawlers a bit, I think it will.

A few adjustments have been made to the bonus structure, and this can now be done as an ambush attack, which provides an additional bonus.

This should work a bit better for the stealthy type looking to try to dismount someone.

Jewelry Crafting Released!

Huzzah. Here's the rundown: - Create a crude peice of jewelry via a mold. - You can then take that crude jewelry and place it on a jewelry crafters's worktable. - Use the command jewelrycraft to see your options. - The higher your blacksmithing and lapidary skill, the more customization options you ...

Yeah... that's been something in the back of my mind for a long time now. Actual bloodstone vs. the description I gave it at the time I was implementing a bunch of new types. I think what I'll do is change bloodstone to be like 'real' bloodstone, and remove its potential to be faceted like a clear g...

[quote=Skjotur]Let's say I was hoping to get some amethyst. I notice that iron is in there three times. I double checked the challenge and rarity settings on obsidian and they are reasonably low compared to other materials. Especially the rarity settings. However if you have 0 mining or very low mining you will struggle to find any. I'd encourage you to get your mining up a bit. I imagine it would be ...

On the map note - If someone creates an ACSII map of an area, that is relatively the same size as the ones we currently have available, if you want to donate it to the game in an OOC manner, I'd be happy to add it to the code and have it available for purchase at a general store. Not everything in this game is fully logical (Sorry Rias), partly due to alpha and partly due to it being impossible to have everything perfectly logical.
