Re: Pondering the "no reason not to" issues of the skill system
Being willing to give people more for investment to make them different would be a great way to make pure dodgers and parry-ers feel a lot better. Give them something for taking multiple stacks of a defensive specialization. Currently, dodge and parry suck in comparison to block, or even having ...

This pattern already exists, or existed, in weapons.

It'd be nice to see similar for other items.

Good memories. Defending the Logging Camp in COGG against a horde of Nethrim and getting to emote breaking a pair of iron gauntlets and tossing them to the ground.

Re: Do Good Samaritan protections exist?
I'm usually less worried about Gm punishment (banishment) than I am at how insanely fast people tend to be to jump down your throat in character. People really like to assume that you know things, and they are usually the ones with sway. So then you look bad. It isnt' great.

Re: Pondering the "no reason not to" issues of the skill system
As Jerc pointed out, and a lot of people heard me talk about back in COGG's voicechats, it's hard to balance this kind of thing, when the skill caps are so arbitrarily large. That's all, really. We're probably too far along to just scale the entire skill system back by a divisor, though ...

Re: Skinning Observations and Suggestions:
I mean, you've still got to grind up the skinning alongside it. And not every mob you get combat skill on you can get skinning skill on. I imagine there will end up being abilities to make you better at skinning, so there's tradeoffs, as well.

... but for the common "grindable" spawns I think it'd be a lot better to just have them be consistent with all their combat skills matching up perfectly. Makes it less of a pain trying to figure out what to practice on. Like a rare mob with a really high offense but really low defense, or vice ...

Re: Skinning Observations and Suggestions:
It'd be reasonable to assume that you could modify the animal's skin difficulty (which would already be combat based) by if it had any natural armor/health buffs, like Bison. This'd let low health critters like rabbits be easier than combat would suggest.

Re: improvised Shield use
I love the idea of letting people without a lot of defensive abilities have small ways to balance it out. I'm totally fine with it having no extra shield reroll, or even a small penalty. It's still an extra roll, and it lets us have more damage options. This would help a lot with light armor builds ...

Re: Bounties: Addendum to Policy/Helpfile
Does every possible action and counteraction have to be steeped in policy? I'm not asking this to be rude or anything, I'm just worried that the more caveats there are, the more roleplaying characters that engage in this sort of thing will feel like a chore trying to make sure every possible action ...

Re: Fury Based Berserker Balances
I'm curious if anyone else playing Berserker can confirm any of these findings. As it is Berserker feels very difficult to play. It requires time in combat to generate the resource necessary to get rerolls (which are the balancing factor in combat) and then those rerolls often end up not mattering ...

Re: Fury Based Berserker Balances
I also forgot to mention furious counter. The ability says it gets rerolls, but it actually doesn't (don't worry, I bugged it). But even with those rerolls, it's risky. I still do it because it's fun and it can be super good, sometimes, but more often than not it ends up putting me in more roundtime ...

Re: Fury Based Berserker Balances
Important to note about my following ideas is that I don't have a Berserker, so I'm a little out of my element and I could be wrong in my vision of them.
Nah.
The first idea is that the Fury decay be removed when the character has "You are under attack!" under their effects. This seems like a ...

Fury Based Berserker Balances
Resident guy with opinions here. I've been playing Berserker for a long while, now, old game and new. Currently, fury doesn't appear to increase damage, or decrease defenses, which is sad, but I think they wanted to make that partial rerolls, which would be in line with other classes. That's the big ...

It might also be worth mentioning that there is a difference between infinitely re-spawning Libiri Bladedancers and PC Duelists that are expected to take on a series of fights in a row, and the same fix may not work for both.

Re: Balancing Tumble
4: though I can see the points made, given the facts above, I feel like combat analysis is probably the real problem here that needs a little tweaking, particularly because tumble has a cool down, and armor deflection does not. And one is affected by encumberance while the other is not. At least I ...

Combat Analysis. Cloak parry. They don't yet, but the types of weapons Duelists have will probably have parry bonuses. Defensive specializations.

Re: Balancing Tumble
I disagree with all of the above with every fiber of by being.
Thanks for the helpful addition to my post. I'm sure you don't want to be nerfed, but Duelist has been one of the best classes by bounds, pretty much since it existed. From everything I hear, back in the day, tumble was still good ...
