Re: The Importance of Good Communication

Zeldryn is hardly the only person feeling the way he feels. It is, likewise, not fair to blame him for Jirato's actions. That someone can't offer valid, real criticisms without a reaction like this just proves the point. "Look what you made me do" is not a great look for the person saying ...

Re: The Importance of Good Communication

Welcome to why I don't play Maina actively anymore. It's been the same since I first created her. Playing a character with any sense of morality is fundamentally at odds with a game about mass-murdering NPCs for profit and makes you a target to anyone who just wants to kill things in their free time...

Re: What is your character's theme song?

People were talking themes again today, so maybe it's a good time to resurrect this topic. Maina's theme is still the one I posted before. But if CLOK were a TV show, this would be her theme for the season: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoDh_gHDvkk Alternate theme for more vulnerable moments: http...

Flora/Foliage/Grass Overriding Urban

There is an old post from Rias http://clok.contrarium.net/bbs/viewtopic.php?p=31036#p31036 suggesting that Druidry maybe shouldn't be blocked by the Urban tag if sufficiently overgrown. It would be nice if having tags like 'grass' or 'foliage' or others that indicate plant growth would allow use of ...

Re: Herb Lore of Madrim and Forum Visibility

You have been given the answer to that part multiple times. You apparently just don't like the answer for some reason. The answer isn't going to change by asking it repeatedly, and this remains very off-topic for this thread. The playstyle is being a druid (in the historical or fantasy sense, not CL...

Re: Herb Lore of Madrim and Forum Visibility

The reason to join is for the RP. If the RP isn't enough for you, then you can join another guild. That is part of the reason for the lengthy selection process. Abilities and mechanics are there to support Warden RP, one is not inducted for the mechanics. Their niche and role is precisely what has b...

Re: Herb Lore of Madrim and Forum Visibility

This is very off-topic and not at all what this thread was for, but to answer some questions: Is there a reason they're super-secretive? Yes. Some knowledge needs to be kept out of the wrong hands, and that is part of the Wardens' mission. Why are they hiding druidic information from their fellow dr...

Herb Lore of Madrim and Forum Visibility

Two things! First: I think one of our abilities, Herb Lore of Madrim, may be incomplete. If it is, and it would help any, I'd be willing to write up the herb descriptions if I were provided with what they did? Second: Given the super-secretive nature of some of our abilities (like the above), could ...

Re: Warden Guild Rank Achievements

I had hoped to get a response, but it's been over a year without one. Here are my suggestions: 1 - Ovate Used for druidic storytellers and diviners; people who have been initiated but are still learning. 5 - Warden Have some combat abilities by this point, making one more of a 'Warden' 10 - Druid So...

Re: Wardens in 2020

Many times we have people join only to leave once they've gotten bored because they cannot take how roleplay heavy the group is, so care is taken in choosing. Going to be maybe a little too blunt here: I am taking a break from CLOK (and my Warden) not because the Wardens are too RP-heavy, but becau...

1. The mummer abilities, is it implied that anyone can learn it... no genetic quirks like elemancy or something? I can't speak for Mummer abilities, but it's worth noting that Elemancy does not require genetic quirks. Technically, anyone can learn it. http://bbs.contrarium.net/viewtopic.php?f=24&am...

True. And mechanically they're the same. But from a roleplay perspective, I'm not sure charcoal is a good permanent material for writing books in. But it's a good point!

Guild Shop Request: Writables

I've seen some requests in this subforum for additions to the guild shop that were accepted, so I thought I'd make my own. The Wardens have a library. I've made it kind of a personal IC mission to fill it with more scrolls and books, talking to other players for things to add as a way to involve peo...

How to contact NPCs?

More than once now, I've had a character need or desire a conversation with an NPC that either doesn't have a visible name (An old, weary herbalist or something along those lines) or does not operate in civilization, making npcmail not an option for getting in contact as I have no name to mail and/o...

Re: The Dangers of Dying

Weighted don't benefit skill gain at all. Your maximum roll is the same, but you're more likely to fail, making gains worse, not better. Much like abilities like Lightfoot do not increase your maximum dice pool, just weight your rolls to be closer to your maximum, making you succeed more often witho...

Re: The Dangers of Dying

I should have made it more clear (posting while sleep deprived is likely unwise): I'm largely agreeing with the idea. I would apply it even to retrievals, if I'm honest. My mention of lore was only intended to be in response to "if recklessness is IC," not a contradiction or disagreement. ...

Re: The Dangers of Dying

On the one hand, it is lore that Undying get reckless and dangerous. On the other, hearing people treat death as no big deal and saving the same person three times in an hour is not the most super fun RP, so I think doing something to make people pause and think twice would make the game a more fun ...

Re: new guild choice: The Locksmith's Guild

Having an official locksmith "guild" just makes it more clear that thieves and Utasa are not "official" and kind of immediately outs them as shady, which is probably not desirable.

Re: Character Names and OOC tells

I think there is an appeal to having OOC names and IC names completely divorced, particularly when there is an OOC name shared between multiple characters and people don't want their alts known. If this were to happen, I'd hope it would keep that separation maintained.

Re: Suggestion: Replace Warden Combat Abilities

a druidry spell that could function as a 'magical bandage' I probably misrepresented the Lore side of it a bit by calling it a bandage spell. Rias explained that the Gaea can modify living things with the capabilities of other living things, which is how Chameleon works. In this case, the Gaea woul...

Suggestion: Replace Warden Combat Abilities

I suspect this is low-priority, even on the off chance anyone agrees with me, but it struck me as a little odd. I'm not sure if the longer-running Wardens are aware, as I think there have been some pretty big changes since they joined, but Staff to Stave is required to begin learning Druidry. I only...

"Arad" sounds similar, and is the name of the entire continent the game takes place on. Roughly half of it is under Quarantine.
