Re: Pondering the "no reason not to" issues of the skill system
Honestly, this feels both like making a small issue much larger than what it is, and thinking about a solution for a system with a solution already built in. We don't have access to metrics, but is there that many people running around with abnormally high skills in a bunch of barely used random ...

Re: Do Good Samaritan protections exist?
Ooh, a todo checklist.
. Poison Shadgard's water supply. (to weaken their defenses).
. Light the town hall on fire. (Frack hostile authority!)
. "liberate" the orphanage. (They have bright futures as new acolytes for the Temple).
. Attack a council member. (And steal any hats. Do they have any ...

Re: High Skill Characters and Loot
Then people in these areas who don't necessarily have skinning could still earn back their repair/food/healing costs.
I started on an idea to try and address that with "trophy skinnables" that creatures produce with very low challenge ratings across the board, so even people with no skinning ...

Re: corporial nethrim after pelos, Redleaf?
I remember Red Leaf knights, now vanguards, were around 1100-1200. And that area has changed a few times with differing scaling. including that one horrible time with an army of large-riverstone slinging skeletons.
however, the above 800 range up until around 1100-1200 seems to be a very dry spot ...

Re: Brawling Focus Extra Abilities
regarding Nightblades, they already have that built into their class identity with a risk system. Though suspose the armor soak ignoring could be changed to only apply when attacking from ambush, and just keep the chinking chance when past that. Sort of covers the issue of fist weapons not yet ...

Brawling Focus Extra Abilities
So, rather than suggesting anything for the main ability, as it probably shouldn't differ from how other specialization combat abilities work, I wanted to maybe throw some ideas for the part of the display for extra abilities depending on specialization. We all know that some specs do have some ...

Re: Magic shields and 2-handed weapons
Eh, doubt it'd be worth it. You'd have to grab that and reflexive channeling. Then grab quick channel master/adept to avoid being locked into 3 second rt shield blocking a surprise pie.
though a web netting grabbing weapon strikes would be fun.

Now now, this is already covered by Improv Weapon prof. And if it isn't, than we need to make it so.

So tried doing some research on how viable this is realistically. However, we’ve taken advantage of our light “fantasy” setting to allow for some fairly reaching things. Such as Tower shields, morning stars, musket shot being blocked by shields and previously dual wielding. So, some less than ...

Re: Merit Scaling
curious if it'd be better if the merit gain was like how another guild functioned and done by hitting the nethrem specifically. Driving off humanoids would still require them to despawn, but one can earn merit for wacking away at a ghost before it finally vanishes, getting a chunk full of funds for ...

Re: Balancing Tumble
one of the things I noticed is that we're referring to ranged attacks as a vulnerability. All that is doing is forcing a tumbly mobile into a position where they have to use the same combat rolls as everyone else, including other light armored characters like nightblades, some marauders and flavors ...

Re: Balancing Tumble
I'd also like to argue the point about the hits that get through doing a lot of damage. With combat analysis and certain setups, it is possible to stack up so many positive rerolls for "all" defenses that if someone manages to surpass all of those rolls, they'd barely do any damage. And tumbling ...

Re: Balancing Tumble
one disagrees until you end up in a situation where a tumbling mob is delaying a fight for actual minutes, while vastly lower skilled than you are. And not everyone would have the patience to skill up a ranged weapon/marksmanship or have access to a rooting method to deal with these annoying mobiles ...

It's just that us misfits are good at keeping each other entertained when there's more than 3 people on. We usually can get down to our own trouble or activities. So it' snot surprising it feels lively.

Well pals, peace was never an option. Strap on your spurred boots or spiked armor and yee and haw.

Dirty Tricks: Skill and More Options
So it has been a few months since we've had the first general ability release that included a number of specializations, styles and classes. We've all played around with things, broke things, broke them harder and provided feedback on a lot of pain points, such as the heavy armor experience, the ...

Pocket... Snow?
A seasonal quick one considering the whole mighty winter going on. Dirt kick can use snow on the ground to launch a clump into someone's eyes. However, can we also make held snowballs count for the dirt throw version of the ability? Snow is like sand, except everywhere right now.

With the claws, they kind of have some really neat flavor with a lot of their abilities. And best fits the theme nightblades went on within COGG. I'm hoping that one can still remain player joinable to some capacity. more than what can be thought up for harbingers, unless Shadgard suffers a mass gas ...
