Re: Generalized Abilities Concerns
Yeah, it's fun for people who like to grind. I prefer to actually play a roleplaying game though, where I don't have to farm my skills up just to play the way I want to. Everything we do should be to encourage RP, and increasing prereqs on things just encourages the people who prefer to RP to just ...

Sword mastery: Hilt strike
When using lighter swords, a chance to follow up an attack that has been dodged with a quick backwards strike from the hilt. Minor damage but high successes may knock the target out or induce rt.

Re: Generalized Abilities Concerns
High prereqs are what make the game more fun. You have something to look forward to and not everyone can get it quickly. Honestly, I think the higher prereqs for a lot of things are very reasonable. Might even be nice to see some even higher prereqs for really good abilities (1000, 1500, etc). The h...

Re: General Abilities questions
Since general abilities are still being worked out, I have been looking over the abilities and noticing minor conflicts or overlaps. Zoiya mentioned that it might be helpful to post our observations or questions on the BBS, and I figured this thread would be just as good a place as any. Here are so...

Re: General Abilities questions
There is a separate disarm as a brofist guild ability that used to work with brawling. I tried it yesterday and it wasn't functioning unarmed. Probably also the case with the generalized ability that requires a weapon.

Re: Generalized Abilities Concerns
Agreed. Ability generalization is pretty amazing and I'm enjoying the customization it allows. I honestly wasn't looking forward to it at first, but it's gone pretty well. I'm looking forward to further tweaks and options, but just wanted to say that I too appreciate all the hard work the GMs have p...

Re: Generalized Abilities Concerns
I posted this in the brofist forum too but I think it applies generally so reposting it here (yes, almost all my comments are about brawling). Currently 2 ability points need to be used to get two-weapon combat gains. Brawling currently has reliance on two-weapon combat to find openings and I think ...

Locking picking has always been limited by the availability of lockpicks and availability of training, but everyone CAN lockpick.sona wrote:by that merit, everyone could lockpick too, though.

Re: Generalized Abilities Concerns
I'm all for capping the quality for pelts at average without skinning focus (or preferably below average, with average being someone who actually knows what they're doing but isn't great at it, i.e. someone starting out with skinning focus). Even though I have no real life knowledge of skinning, I c...

Re: bro fist tactics thoughts
Tactic: Brute Force I think that this tactic should also reduce the number of attacks you deal out since you're putting so much effort into each strike. Tactic: Counter-striker I think if this attempt fails you should have a decent chance to injur yourself, or the attacker should have a chance to g...

Re: bro fist tactics thoughts
I wonder if some of the tactics that reduce weapon effectiveness should be less effective with smaller lighter weapons. I could use a dagger in a grapple with little problem, and hatchet/shortsword work is meant to be right in close. Most of these rely upon controling the arms and body positioning,...

Thanks Rias! Let me know if you or Jirato want to discuss any of these. I've been trying out new martial art styles for the past year or so and have gotten some great new ideas about martial principles and tactics from it.

One more... Tactic: Wind and Stone A defensive tactic that relies on a strong body and fast movements. The body becomes a stone wall while moving as fluidly as the wind. Bonuses to dodge and parry (offense takes a hit except under a special circumstance) and a slight overall reduction in damage from...

Re: bro fist tactics thoughts
As amazing as it would be to have cool Ki blasts, pushing techniques, and Ki distruption (vital point targeting), I think that this is way too Asian and we've been told this will never happen. It's also very unrealistic. Love to see it but sure it won't happen. There's nothing "supernatural&quo...

Generalization Considerations
I have a few questions and comments regarding generalization with reference to brofists. The first is that brawling currently works off of two-weapon combat. Now that two-weapon combat requires melee focus and melee: dual wielding to learn (2 ability points), would it be possible to remove the relia...

Re: Game Design: Good & Evil Choices
Maybe that is a solution, but I find the need to justify all my actions with the think command or with a followup email to be a bit stifling. I dont play to be constantly on my guard and defending what I'm doing. I shouldnt feel like I have to do the equivalent to lawyering up. If this is what is re...

Re: Game Design: Good & Evil Choices
The thing is, that kind of character is what executions were invented for. People unapologetically axe-crazy,extremely powerful, and unkillable are very hard to deal with. Without being able to kill you, all the average populace can do is shun you. Subtle evil give you the ability to move far more ...

Re: Game Design: Good & Evil Choices
If that is something you would like to play then you are more than welcome to do so but that does not mean that you can go around and kill new players for the fun of it or use it as an excuse to harass others. And this is the biggest reason why I feel evil and this type of character is not supporte...
