Re: About heavy armor, and roundtime
Every other MUD might be pushing it a bit. Discworld comes to mind as one with a lot of command delays, and I've certainly played others which are comparable to Clok. Personally, I'd much (much) rather the GMs focus on their bug/feature lists (yay alchemy) than try to shave some time off of command ...

Re: Friend List and Enemy List
I know this is slightly off-topic, but I'd also like to see who is on as mentor, but I don't like that they being a mentor automatically makes it so that they can see me. Mentors can't see that you are online (unless you happen to on each other's friend list) even though you see them. The only exce...

Re: Missing VS Dodging
If they are just missing, there should not be any defensive rolls at all. If the other person's dodge skill is being taken into effect, then it should be described as a dodge. I'm not sure why you think they can only start dodging after the arrow has been fired though, or that they are necessarily s...

Re: Mistral Managerial Matters
Mistral is fairly full-featured, but there are some things I'd love to see. 1) Facilities - Fishing boats This may be too elaborate, but it'd be really neat if you could hire a boat to take you out to the lake to fish. It would be similar to a workshop mechanically, and maybe there'd be different ty...

Re: Repairing
Thanks for the info! I was under the impression that Master Artisans were the risk-free repairers. Maybe they should be? As it stands, I'd be strongly tempted to give NPCs all my repairs from now on, which is a fair bit of business!

Re: Taking a break for reals
Breaks can be a great thing. Do what's best for you, and don't sweat the trivial stuff like those Skype chats! I hope everybody realizes that there are a diminishing number of GMs willing to spend their free time dealing with the more toxic complaints, personal attacks, and gossiping. If we want Clo...

Gambling House Suggestions
I'm fairly excited about the gambling house that's in development. Here are some things that would make it really great: 1) Multi-player games (e.g. poker) Playing games against the house (such as roulette and simliar) can be fun, but I think that some games that involve multiple characters would le...

Re: Generalized Abilities Concerns
I was kinda disappointed that my alt who had it before now has to grind his brawling up to twice the previous prereq in order to relearn something he already knew. Also, I'm not a fan of the archery abilities except hyperfocus needing to have bow mastery first. Their prereqs are small, but then you...

Re: Generalized Abilities Concerns
That would make a certain amount of sense to me. Maybe a quality cap, a skillgain cap (say, up to 200 skinning), and only things with normal pelts> That would let people try it, or make a little coin while hunting, while still allowing people to specialize.

Re: Generalized Abilities Concerns
So, I'm really enjoying generalization so far. I mean, I'd love another 2 points, but I'm really happy with most of the changes. I think it's not unreasonable for mounted combat to take up a point, personally. I'm grateful we can still use warhorses without it, except for tramping and charging, but ...

Re: Lost Portfolio
So, a few days ago there was a server crash. I had a book that I had placed on a counter in the house I live in. After the crash the room reverted to its last saved state (not a GM, so I don't know the details) and the book was gone. Conversely a set of armor was duplicated, as I had picked it up, a...

I can confirm that it is not where it was. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say it was effected by the room rollback that happened after the crash.

Re: Game Design: Good & Evil Choices
So, I stopped playing Skah, who probably qualifies as an "evil" character, largely because of really unsupportive mechanics/environment in Clok. I'm fine with that, and am having a lot more fun now, but since there's a real discussion going on here I'm going to weigh in. "Extra powers...

Re: Concerning Market Selling Prices
Carvings have a different set of quality descriptors than smithed goods (detailed, intricate, etc.), and not a lot of variability in prices. As it sounds like you've surmised, intricate carvings are of a higher quality than detailed ones.

Re: Two-Weapon Combat Changes
Yeah, dual rapiers, especially with tactics parry, should probably be looked at. Dual wielding is described on the wiki as less damage than single weapon combat, and less defense than sword and shield. In practice it's more damage than single wield, and more defense than sword and shield (taking int...

Re: General Abilities questions
That's a great approach. I do think a separate ability pool would have even bigger balance issues, and any big set of changes is going to have to deal with some balance stuff.

Re: General Abilities questions
A shared ability pool makes sense, although it opens up balance issues of its own (some abilities have a small number of amazing talents, like the Dwaedn, whereas some guilds have a ton of less powerful "core" abilities). I'm also a bit worried that players will have a big incentive to nev...

A clear (and easily accessible) explanation of that should be available. Although individuals are free to express thei...

Re: Regarding Transfer
Unfortunate, but I understand why you don't want to maintain two different systems for moving stuff, especially with all the heave changes. I have pretty decent transfer aliases/triggers for Mudlet. If people are interested, I could clean it up and make a little transfer Mudlet plugin.
