Re: Ability Idea

FYI, it's now officially a thing. No more conjured matter "bonding" with natural matter. It now all dissipates, meaning hydro no longer leaves people drenched, and it can no longer be used to water soil. Sorry, hydromancers. Some short-lived secondary effects are still in at the moment (a...

Re: On Alts: A Plea from the GM Team

So, I have two suggestions related to this. I've been really surprised in general about the set up for creating characters in clok. Most RP enforced MUDs I've played have players create a player account and then create characters attached to that player account - it allows easy tracking of alts and ...

Well, you can only have one of them now. And only two journeyman levels, counting the one you get mastery in.

Kent, test instructions for the testing version of blowtorch are located here: http://www.offsetnull.com/blowtorch/v2-test-installation-instructions/ -- that includes the download link. Alternatively, you could do some testing with a direct telnet connection first. I would install connectbot (https:...

Re: Daily Tasks

Well, I've heard that Rias has some ideas in the works for changing how guild tasks are handled and how guild points will be used/valued so that guild members don't feel inclined to grind away at tasks when they need guild points. I think tasks will still be offered for people looking for something ...

Re: Sit-Down Food

At the university, I think the following items should probably be sit-down (in that they shouldn't be stored in a backpack, not so much that they're full meals): some bland pasty mashed potatoes some maple-saturated brown toast some limp steamed broccoli with cauliflower some tubular noodles covered...

Feature Request: Selecting field of study

I'm not sure if not being able to choose which type of task one is doing is a feature, but I wanted to request the ability to select a type of task (ie, ask <person> about <hydromancy | geomancy> task. I'd love to be able to pick my field of study to keep my elemancy skills balanced. Of course, I'd ...

Re: banned bodies

What about having them escorted out of town by a group of guards? That way there's no killing in the church, and those who save people don't have to drag someone all the way to the gate of Shadgard just to diacover that, hey, they won't even let me drag this body through the gate. It'd also give th...

Huh, I always thought the Parrans were inspired by polynesian/micronesian cultures. They tend to be very relaxed.

Can we get some guidance as to whether we should treat this as OOC or IC. IE should I come up with an RP reason for my character's color change?

Language learning

TLDR: I have a ridiculous idea about how to implement something (that is probably on the to do list) that would take a lot of time and code to implement (surprise). I've imagined that one of the issues with language being implemented as a learnable skill is handling language failure. Right now, if s...

Re: Fail to teach message

Yeah, I've been stumped on how to roleplay the second one (already studying 3) until this morning. I think I'm going to go with, "you seem distracted, are you focusing on other things?" and perhaps a tell to explain.

Re: Skill Decay

TLDR - I have some theories on the matter, but any limiting system will have trade offs. The best solution is for everyone to roleplay well, but what that means is different for different people. I've thought about this as well. I really like the open-ended-ness of skills as they currently exist, so...

Hydromancy aid
Using Hydromancy Aid to wash someone off no longer leaves the target drenched, as the conjured water is assumed to specifically be made to vanish afterward.
The message about leaving someone drenched has changed, but drenched still shows up in effects. Any elemancers up for a ste...

Re: Creating team based opposing objectives for increased pl

I've been thinking about something along these lines recently, though what I thought of was admittedly simpler. I think it would be cool to have group guild tasks. You could 'ask <leader> about group task' and if there aren't enough people the leader will 'note your interest' until there are enough ...

Re: Nitpickiness I almost don't want to mention

So, I cannot recall if I've mentioned this before, and if so, I understand that it is probably problematic and very low priority, but why won't a single riln fit into a pants pocket? Really? Either pockets are too small or riln are too large, but any currency that won't fit into a pocket seems like ...

Re: New Pyro Tasks

Thread necromancy! Yay! So, I've got an idea about how to fix the pyromancer tasks (and something of an idea of what the bugs were), but sadly, it involves work. It also involves adding a new command or adding an additional function to an existing command. Here's the pseudo-code/logic: <burninate> o...

Re: New combat display

What I like: I enjoy the simplicity of the new interface. I think it offers great potential to provide more meaningful combat information to players who use screen readers. What I don't like: I'm less thrilled with the amount of information lost. Also, a lesser complaint is the dark grey # sign is d...

Ocean Fishing

I found some ocean areas and I wanted to suggest/request that they be fishable while adjacent (like rivers are currently). My limited experience of beach fishing suggests that it should be pole fishable, I'm less sure on spearfishable, but spearfishing is awesome. Also, while I'm making fishing sugg...

Re: Purchasing Poultices

I know there was some talk of an alchemy like skill in the past. I'd love to see some form of potion making option as an additional way to heal. Of course, adding a new system is a lot of coding work and requires lots of balancing, but I like to imagine it could be used as a nice mid-ground in heali...

Re: Waterlogging

I'm not sure how coding things work, but if coding for amount of time in the water is difficult, it may be easier (and make more sense) to base it off of amount of energy spent swimming/treading water. That would allow waterlogging for people that swim through several rooms or who sit in one room fo...

Re: Foraging to the ground

That's a neat idea. I've always been fond of using containers to gather the sticks or set a macro to bundle them in my hands (or drops them immediately for branches). Realistically, I'd think that most campers wouldn't use a container to gather sticks though.

Re: Illegal Commodities

I'm not sure on Malachite. I've personally seen it in a place where it would be very likely to be mined by new players that don't know any better. Sorry, I just picked a pair of semiprecious stones. I kinda know zilch about mining. I think a lot of what you're looking for is smuggling, which doesn'...
