Re: Suggestions for balancing.
There are a lot of gaps in critter skill/variety. Until these gaps are filled and a variety of appropriate skill level critters of diverse attack type/body type are available, lets not limit things further. Honestly I would prefer to always train on something right at my skill level as the gains ar...

Re: Skill gain in offensive tactics
Personally feel like it is a good change in the long run for balance reasons. Taken advantage of it as much as most, I imagine and going to take some shifting to get used. Any sort of gains left in however, regardless of how small will just see no change in the way people are doing things. It will j...

Re: Suggestions for balancing.
Was actually thinking about this earlier while my mind was otherwise unoccupied. -The Soft Cap Just like Sneaky posted about given enough time, a player can work up a defensive skill the same can be said of offensive skills. Using stances, they can usually do it without much danger either until they...

Re: Dwaedn as glass cannons
Fundamentally, as numbers grow larger and dice are rolled with this in mind, the potential for huge failures and huge successes (assuming the two die rolls are opposed) grows. Eventually, assuming this game goes on for long enough, GMs will have to provide that aforementioned band-aid because playe...

Re: Generalized Abilities Concerns
A little confused by Skinning Focus/Bushcraft Basics. Bushcraft offers this in regards to skinning: raises the maximum quality of skins produced from skinning from terirble to average. While Focus offers this: This unlocks the ability to skin animal pelts and hides - pretty much anything other than ...

Some more ideas! Abilities -Every Style under the Sun In the training halls of the Coalition, you see all sorts. From the large Giganti, the smaller Grummer to the more noble Viali and they all bring in their own fighting styles. More experienced Mercenaries have not just witnessed one way of fighti...

Gaia Fanatics -We've started mining/logging at "Destination", and we've been bringing in a lot of good quality lumber/ore. Only problem is, we seem to have disturbed some of the locals who keep on banging on about Gaia. We're sending extra help, just in case they decide to force our boys ...

Re: Just some ability ideas.
Okay. I had a ponder. I think one route that could be taken to emphasis the fact that the Mercenaries of the Coalition are there not just to make money, but to protect the interests of the Coalition would be to involve them in a bit more... gray activities beyond they do. Currently, Mercenaries pret...

Re: Just some ability ideas.
Umm.. I kind of thought I did? Constant tasks designed for groups to complete would mean more work for coalition based squads, which means more riln. A non-coalition based group would have no tasks at all, much less the constant group tasks of the Coalition mercs, which means they would be gaining ...

Re: Just some ability ideas.
This would allow mercenaries to have the best of both worlds. Still very rough and gritty, yet with vague military function within their squads (ie team leader gives orders, team listens usually). The coalition mercs would be clearly different than just any man offering his sword for hire, as a squ...

Re: Just some ability ideas.
Rereading Kunred, I think I mostly missed what you were trying to say. I get what you say, but I also don't think there is anything in there that is enough to differentiate a Mercenary of the Coalition from someone who isn't. Lets go with the idea that Mercenaries aren't supposed to be a professiona...

Yup! I talked a bit about the bounty board idea I plan to implement in our last voice chat session with the players, not sure if you were in on that one or not. Unfortunately I've been tied up with other projects, but it's still something near the top of my list. As for a military-themed guilds, th...

Re: Generalized Abilities Concerns
To chime in with some of Kent's thoughts... Personally, I've always loathed the Mercenaries and Artisans. Out of all the Guilds in the game, they've always stood out like a sore thumb. I seem to vaguely remember a while back, a post about how they offered no large advantages because they offer next ...

Water Drop Confirm
Considering dropping an item in water destroys it, perhaps a confirmation of "Are you sure you want to do that?" like with transfer to barrels.

Reckless Strike -Throwing caution to the wind, you move forward and launch one single deadly strike. Your opponent immediately strikes you with one attack with you having 0 defense, but in return you possibly land a deadly blow. (Basically, a reverse riposte. You use it, your opponent gets one singl...

Re: Abilities requiring Weapon Masteries:Ideas
This was an old debate we had amongst the staff a while ago. The issue was not whether or not it was historically accurate but rather would be it balanced for the game to allow for special or extra strikes of this type. We came to the conclusion to not do anything with it at the time however we may...

Ability Suggestion: Temporary Equipment Buff
In an effort to have Artisans to be more often requested for work, and the fact that often once someone reaches a certain point they stick with what equipment they have and don't need anything else... (unless they use leather of course) How about a temporary buff that only Artisans can do? It would ...

Re: Riversteel
I don't know the full lore or mechanics behind it, hence making the post. The term steel made me think it would share at least some traits of steel, which is banned. If it in fact doesn't share any of the properties of steel that got the metal banned... then fair enough.
