It's a tricky mechanic. It's something that's been discussed before, but thinking is a pretty universal way to communicate was the conclusion. So languages wouldn't really make sense over ESP.

I actually thought the skinning on coastal cliffs was pretty odd, myself. It's ridiculously easy for someone with almost no skinning skill to get good skins off of things there.

Yes, Mercs getting paid more would go a long way. Currently, even Tse Gaiyan members get more riln per task on average than mercenaries of the Coalition do. For less work.

For what it's worth, I really like shortswords in general, and I'd like to keep them especially useful to those who use two weapons or want to go all swashbuckly with a sword and shield. Rapiers are quite long, and using two of them, I just imagine that can't be easy to do without getting them tang...

While I understand the reasoning behind this, I think it opens up too much segregation overall. I don't like it.
