Re: Monks under review

The point was that people gravitate towards characters that they subjectively view as more desirable to play, and less people are attracted to the healer class than most others. Well, yes, they gravitate that direction. What I thought we were trying to address is why it is a regular occurrence in t...

Re: Monks under review

The numbers show that people don't want to play monks I've outlined why I dislike playing healer characters before, but I imagine for a lot of other people its more along the lines of, "Why play a healer when I can play a demonic dual-sword ultrasonic ninja assassin and be a total badass?"...

Re: Monks under review

I have been trying my best to keep this on-topic. To sum up: The life cycle was intended to illustrate how uninteresting it is to play a monk. If it was interesting as Artisans, Thieves, Mercenaries, Elemancers etc., some people would stick with the monk characters they play as some other people sti...

It seems mighty realistic for an axe with a wooden haft to weigh less than an axe with a metal haft, tho.

Re: Monks under review

Kent, I'm not sure what to say to you at this point. I just don't see the point in calling someone out for not playing when they're making positive contributions to the thread and working to solve the "problem". I also don't see why you revived the thread in that manner a month later with...

Being able to edit a request and not lose place in queue

So I was in about 7th place for many weeks in the Request queue. When it became apparent that the GM's were simply not going to respond to my request to delete duplicate stallions (even when I had one GM's attention for a past month's patreon perk fulfillment), and another month went by and I had an...

Re: Monks under review

It's frustrating both for the monk and for the people who would like to have the monks teamed up with them that the monk can't participate in the spoils. This is why I suggested that monks be allowed to accept cash (for example, share command) and then donate half of their income to the donation bo...

Comparing apples and oranges. I was talking about the means used (the ritual item), and you switched it up to the ends desired.

Re: Monk ability suggestion

I think this is an interesting idea, but worry about it being a bit imbalanced. Bypassing the limitation on exhaustion isn't something other groups can do, and having a limitless bypass of a core game mechanic strikes me weird. Everyone can bandage while exhausted currently. The suggestion wasn't t...

Degrades for leather repaired items too severe

It took me a long time to finally produce a masterfully crafted pair of fur gauntlets (it is substantially rarer than masterworked in metal) and they got scuffed. Not battered or damaged, merely scuffed. I have a rather high skill in leather working. I repaired them, and they degraded not just one l...

Re: Monk ability suggestion

Nice suggestion. Syntax could be 'tourniquet' which would only work for a monk with this ability, and this command would bypass the hostiles check.

Re: Monks under review

The spirit candle thing seems "sort of" interesting, yet I would have to say it also seems a bit too satanic for the monks of this game. The candles thing seems maybe in this universe to better suit Rooks, and/or perhaps that spider cult and the blood cult (either about which admittedly I ...

Re: neckerchief masks - too thin to muffle one's voice

Come on, Kent. If anyone has panache to spare, it's you. Even so: Any ideas to make the bandana masks more obvious so they can afford to lose the muffle? Yes, my idea would be, Kent says to you, talking through his bandana, "Do you have any weapons for sale?" There we have the indication ...

Re: Making ESP Rescue messages a little clearer / more personable

You like to contradict, don't you, Ironcross? I made the suggestion to benefit newcomers who don't know what's going on, not to keep you happy. I there still remains some ambiguity about the message, and if you go into a church or crypt you will see a stack of bodies of Player Characters, most of wh...

Thanks for reminding me that I'm the bad one. Especially when my impolite request was "That's too IC, guys." See, if you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known how impolite that was. And thanks for pre-insulting me for making this post. I'm glad that your response just above doesn't fall in...

"Additionally, unless you are a mentor or a GM, it really shouldn't be your place to moderate chat and question. " I get that the intention of the post was to go easy on newcomers (is it?) So just now I was asking players (not newbie players) not to use chat to discuss item properties and ...

When someone attacks you first, it is not murder to fight back; it is self-defence. What is murder is what those aggros do to people.
