new guild choice: The Locksmith's Guild

If you wish to pick locks in game, currently you can only do it via a path of break-and-enter many times. I would like to propose that it be possible to role play someone who was trained in locksmithing, and only in that. Someone who went to a locksmithing institute such as are mentioned in the cert...

Re: Better name for chain mail foot armor.

Sollerets sound more like scale armor based on the description. Should chain footwear even be a thing? I tried to find medaeval chain armor (for feet) on Google but can't say I located anything. Maybe you're right...maybe there shouldn't be chain footwear as there is no historical precedent. Perhap...

Better name for chain mail foot armor.

I bought some crafted chain mail foot armor from an artisan and it came out as 'steel chainmail boots'. As this game has been pretty good up until now as to using the Norman French-derived names for armor, I would like to suggest that this piece of mail be renamed to fit in with the rest of the piec...

Re: The Masterful Conundrum

Historically, one of the primary function of real life guilds was to prevent members from underselling each other and blackballing anyone who didn't play along. The Artisans may have to get together and do what Locksmiths do already: set some standard prices and shun/beat the crap out of anyone who...

Stranger, did you know that there's been some talk that Plato's writings were possibly not written by Plato, but rather by another man of the same name?

CLOK Wolverine not really tough enough

I've heard it said that a wolverine is almost as hard to kill irl as a bear three times it's size. The CLOK wolverine seems too much of a pushover. Solution 1: Increase the CLOK wolverine's hit points and attack damage by about 60% of it's current value. Solution 2: Keep the stats the same, but chan...

Adding broadsword to light swords

With the addition of the 3-pound cutlass to the blades that can be used to riposte with, could we also add broadsword (also a 3 pounder) to this number, please? Right now, my character has a nice broadsword but he never uses it because he can never riposte with it, and so cutlass is chosen hands dow...

An alternate name for mithril?

The mithril that was introduced recently is kind of a cool new thing, except the use of the name just doesn't sit right with me. When I see "mithril", I think more a Lord of the Rings game or a D & D MUD. Is there a way we could keep the metal but come up with an alternate name, so as ...

Re: Repairing

Thank you, Kiyaani. I guess in general, people won't pay more than 1000 or so for an above-average (can't blame them, I guess I wouldn't either), even with cool customizations and even with the then-rare riversteel (it recently became more attainable, making my item now even more worthless). In CLOK...

I was wrong in assuming NPC repairs have no chance to degrade a weapon's durability or grade. I found out that the hard way.

Re: Repairing

As I mentioned more than once in chat and I think somewhere on this board as well, I had a riversteel rapier (on which I spent a lot of money and two customizations) degrade from Exquisite to Above-Average. To give you an idea of it's new current value: No one will buy it for even a third of what I ...

Ability reset for paradigm change in Blacksmithing

Sure, there are plenty of excited new folks who believe they benefitted from the changes in Blacksmithing. Good. What about those players who were hard done by with these changes? They can now forge a shovel and a bucket, but they can no longer make a spear or a shortsword or similar things that wer...

I was actually halfway through working on something like this when you posted. It's not going to be automatic like that, unfortunately - too much work for now, but it will be far less ambiguous. Ok, that's the next best thing, so thank you. At least the newcomer will be now pointed in the right dir...

Making the abilities acquisition more beginner friendly

My character in-game just now encountered a new player with an oft-repeated experience I am sure we have all run into. As the game is now, someone new will try to take up some trade like mining or blacksmithing, and they will get an unhelpful message to the effect of "You don't know the first t...

Xanthe is correct too...however gold-plating a steel arrowhead goes beyond the complexity level of a mud, as good an idea it would be for a real life scenario.

Re: Making arrowheads out of softer metals

Yes, for aethetics and variety. You make an argument based on the softness of those metals as it relates to real life, but to follow through with that argument, we should remove larger softer metal hilts and definitely all hafts (a silver or gold flail haft would be bent in no time and more useless ...

Making arrowheads out of softer metals

I would like to request that arrowheads be able to be crafted from many types of metal, the same metals that hilts can be made from. We have darts in game already with brass tips. Shot is made from the softest of all metals, lead. We can make nails from all the softer metals that hilts can be made f...
