Mage Candle returns!
Apprentice Pyromancers can cast the Mage Candle spell once again! While channeling pyromancy, type CAST MAGE_CANDLE (note the underscore). The candle's base duration is 15 minutes, and each skill rank of Pyromancy grants an additional 5 seconds. The Mage Candle can be dismissed with the DISMISS comm...

Re: Answers to some Clok revival FAQs
Thanks, Zeldryn! The chat was a lot of fun. Sorry for getting a little sassy at times. I like to tease people I'm comfortable with, and in group settings like this sometimes I can end up teasing someone I'm not as familiar with and then I worry I've just made them uncomfortable. One thing I intended...

On bans and negative faction standings
There have been a few requests to have character/account bans or negative faction standings reconsidered now that the game is being restored, so I figured I'd make a public statement on the subject. Regarding bans: I may look over them at some point just so I've got as much information as possible o...

Yes, please! Once per type of item, not per individual item. So if you had 2 crossbows, you wouldn't need to send a separate report upon trying each one. Just one report that crossbows in general don't seem to be functional.

Re: A few little things going with the mud
I may have to rework the entire soundpack You should be able to use most of what you've already worked on with the COGG pack, I think, since we're running on the updated code and not the old legacy CLOK code. how is tailoring done when the old system doesn't have animal husbandry and wool or rimeve...

Re: CLOK Server Shut Down (It's back!)
Hey look, is that a Monk casting Soul Beacon on CLOK? Or a Rook casting Soul Retrieval? Either way: CLOK is being restored, running on an updated codebase! It's still a work in progress, but it's moving right along and people can log in with their CLOK accounts and characters. Some stuff will be a l...

I can't think of any off the top of my head that shouldn't return! I'm working on Elemancer spells first, since Rooks have some spells that are a bit more involved code-wise.

Qent's Quest
I took a little time over the past couple days to play around with some graphical game design for once. I would like to present my first work: Qent's Quest: Savior of Kerth. It's a parody game whose setting should feel familiar to CLOK players. While the game is inspired by various true events, I sh...

Re: New pounce ability
Some players like their am smash goods. That's totally fine. But no guild has ever been one-size-fits-all. Right! It certainly works, I just wanted to clarify that not all Dwaedn Wyr are that way. Now I'm super tempted to log in as my Dwaedn I never got around to playing, just to try out this new a...

Re: New pounce ability
Not trying to be rude, but I believe CLOK and the Dwaedn class were not at all improved by this change. It can be rough when your idea of something is shaken up, for sure. Hopefully I can help assuage some of your concerns. As the creator of the Dwaedn Wyr, I'm actually excited for this addition! I...

Re: Mage Candle and Fire Sphere
Is there a lore reason for the difference between these two? Or is it an oversight or low priority change? I was asked ICly why, and I'm not sure how to answer. One is a tiny little candle flame that provides a slight amount of light, the other is a big bright ball of fire that provides a large amo...

Shadgard Orphanage: Nasty or Nice?
I was made aware of some speculation a little while back about nasty nuns treating children badly in the Shadgard Orphanage, so I wrote up a little blurb to clarify things and got Jirato's approval to post it. ========== The Shadgard Orphanage is a modest facility on the south end of Shadgard where ...

Re: Cache of questions
1. The mummer abilities, is it implied that anyone can learn it... no genetic quirks like elemancy or something? Lorewise, it's something that people just have varying levels of natural affinity for, like many other skills or talents. PCs who join up are assumed to have a good knack for it, though ...

cultures and religion: Q: Why do Rhuidim speak Nuum? A: Likely because Rhun was originally a Nuumic Old Gods traditionalist. I'd say the Rhuidim technically have their own dialect at least, but mechanically having it the same as Nuum makes an amount of sense. Q: Do the Nuum use druidry? A: Anyone c...

Re: Cache of questions
A GM pointed me here, so I'll do my best to shed some light: 1. Are there settlements, around the lands that aren't hamlets but just a collection of homes that are isolated? There are bound to be a few little homes or tiny solitary communities tucked away out there in places that have gone unnoticed...

Re: Briar's List of Probably Dumb Game Questions
Elemancy works the classical elements of fire, earth, air, and water. Sorcery has to do with cold goopy inky-black stuff. Thaumaturgy is warm glowy golden light that gives you warm fuzzies (unless you're tainted, in which case it burns like the dickens). Druidry primarily has to do with plants and a...

Lord Hermit Pssst, that D is supposed to be an E. And now a fun fact: Monks and Templar aren't particularly religious in the typical sense. While they're affiliated with the confusingly-named Church of Light, said Church is more about espousing the general philosophies of compassion, charity, self-...

Regarding Wyrvardn and the "Knight" term
(This seems to come up somewhat frequently, so I'm posting this right here in the Wyrvardn boards so it can be easily found and referenced in the future.) Unofficially, anyone can call themselves a "knight" and most people will get what they mean: a warrior who gets all armored up and prob...

Re: Sorcery manipulation
I'll give an overall point of advice about all channeling first, and say that if you don't have an ability that specifically says you can do a particular thing, then it's likely you can't do that particular thing. This applies to all types of channeling, not just sorcery. Channeling in this world is...

Re: Carved haft termination
Does that mean that woodworkers just make a "stave" item now instead of a specific type of haft, and the stave works as a wooden haft for any weapon head so the old specific-type hafts are obsolete?Noctere wrote: woodworkers are encouraged to supply carved staves for blacksmiths instead.

Re: Making arrowheads out of softer metals
we should remove larger softer metal hilts and definitely all hafts (a silver or gold flail haft would be bent in no time and more useless than a silver or gold arrowhead) and we should make lead shot un-reusable. Most arrows should break upon use anyway, if not the head, then the shaft. Nails: har...
