Re: Monks under review

I agree, more community togetherness would be fantastic. Both that and the ability to enjoy the game when numbers are low and people are doing their own thing are important pieces to overall gameplay enjoyment. From my perspective, monks already have some very good stuff to bring to the table in gro...

Re: Monks under review

We should also ask 'What would you interact with a monk over?' I agree, but let's also try to give monks things to do that don't require them to have someone else being there with them. They're supposed to be helpers and supporters for sure, but there are also plenty of times when everyone else is ...

Re: neckerchief masks - too thin to muffle one's voice

Come on, Kent. If anyone has panache to spare, it's you.

Even so: Any ideas to make the bandana masks more obvious so they can afford to lose the muffle?

Re: Monks under review

It's interesting to note that of the three examples you provided, two left the Monastic Order, and the other had to abandon the combat-focused playstyle because it wasn't supported and got them into no small amount of trouble. That they were all given time to try and come into better alignment with ...

Re: Monks under review

I remember when monks were combat oriented I think you're misremembering. Monks were originally encouraged to train unarmed combat in the interest of self defense (blade slap and arrow deflect were made just for them, so they could better avoid attacks without having to carry weapons) but were stil...

Re: Monks under review

Monks do get a couple powerful anti-nethrim abilities, and there's never been an issue with monks using those when a situation demands. I've cheered as I've watched more than a few liches and wraiths be vaporized by blinding columns of light at the hands of monks. It'd be fun to see them get a few m...

Re: neckerchief masks - too thin to muffle one's voice

Keep in mind that the main point of the muffle effect to begin with was to make it apparent to others that the speaker was was wearing just such a mask. You lose that panache if people don't even realize you're wearing that bandana mask.

Anyone willing to RSVP here? I think people are more likely to show up if they know others are also going to show up, so people chiming in here could be a good way to get some momentum going for this event.

Re: A newbie critique on traveling, hunger, and cold

This post isn't meant to argue one way or another, but to just explain a little what the mindset was behind these mechanics when they were created. When I designed these systems, the thing at the fore of my mind was "would I want to play this game?" I always strove for a balance between re...

I say go for it. If you want to go over more particulars of how exactly they're troubling your character, feel free to send me a PM on the BBS here with more information about it so we don't get any more spoileriffic to the masses. I'd be happy to put some of your concerns to rest.

This was an awesome read! Ruin really is the best horse. I'd love to read more stuff like this, both from Dorn and other players. It's great to enjoy the writer's talent and see a glimpse of their characters through their own writing, and a bit more selfishly, I just love seeing people appreciate th...

Taking one or both of the Quickchannel abilities can also reduce channel drop woes, in that it takes less roundtime to open channels.

Re: adjustment to Templar abilities?

Thaumaturgy already has a very significant advantage just by nature of being thaumaturgy, when it comes to channel drop rates due to armor - it's much less likely to drop than other types of channeling, even without the Serafina's Blessing ability. No ability required. That said, it's still troubles...

Re: Minor Animation functioning on nethrim

Minor Animation is essentially jump-starting a human corpse that is still fit for normal, organic life, with all its organs and systems still intact. That's why the target can't have sustained any vital wounds - the body's as alive and biologically functioning as it ever was, the natural biology tak...

More animals affected by druidry

The recently-released animals, and a few older animals that were omitted by mistake, are now affected by druidry abilities. If you notice any other creatures that are unaffected by druidry but feel like they should be, let us know.

Thanks to Noccy for handling the codey side of this update.

Rooms that perform repairs will have something next to the room name. In this case, it says (paid metal repairs). The syntax should be: REPAIR MY <WEAPON> or for example, REPAIR MY WARSWORD

It looks like Haurlief will repair your stuff for you. And apparently it's been that way for a while, because when checking for repairs he handed me a repaired knife I had forgotten I gave him to repair years ago.

Beware the Rakkan!

In a strange recent fad, many people have been sporting apparel made of what is being called "rakkan fur" - a fine, deep brown fur. Rumors have been circulating that these "rakkan" can be found in the mountains deep in the Wyrewood Forest, though the frequency of the phrase "...
